Our proprietary algorithm rates players over the course of their career by measuring on-field production using various position-relevant metrics. We account for the strength of opponent (eg. the Competition Factor) to generate a more accurate value of each game’s performance. The result is game-by-game player stock value chart that historically has proven to identify player potential at the next level.
Hype-proof
In the 2016 NFL Draft, Competition Factor rated Dak Prescott the #2 QB – just behind Jared Goff. Dak was selected in the 4th round (8th overall QB), behind Goff, Carson Wentz, and Paxton Lynch (1st round); Christian Hackenberg (2nd round); Jacoby Brissett and Cody Kessler (3rd round); and Connor Cook (4th round).
Works at the high school level too…
ESPN rated Hunter Johnson as the #1 pocket passer in the 2017 recruiting class. Trevor Lawrence was their top 2018 pick. They weren’t alone. Rivals and 247 had both QBs at the top of their lists too. They had the same opportunity to succeed – both started their college careers at Clemson. Johnson arrived just after Deshaun Watson left for the NFL. He had the opportunity to compete with Kelly Bryant for the starting job – yet even when Bryant was visibly hurt Clemson chose to stick with Bryant. A year later, Lawrence steps on campus and won the starting job by his fourth game. Once again, Competition Factor had it right.
